Music for Oboe and Piano
Catherine Pluygers and Matthew Stanley have been working as an oboe and piano duo since 1985.
They have given recitals at music clubs throughout the UK including Wigmore and Purcell Room recitals.They premiered Sonata No 2 by Ruth Gipps which was especially written for them. In 1998 they were invited to tour Hong Kong and returned there several times to give concerts and masterclasses and performances for RTHK Radio,Television Hong Kong. They have made a CD 'English Music for Oboe and Piano (Redbridger Recordings) featuring the music of Lennox Berkeley, York Bowen, Eugene Goossens and Edmund Rubbra broadcast on the BBC, Australian and Danish Radio, and also a CD of the music of Ray Parfrey recorded in May 1996.

Oboe Sonata in C Op 100 Edmund Rubbra
Matthew Stanley studied the piano with Julian Jacobson at the Royal Holloway College (London University) graduating in 1980. He then undertook a two-year post-graduate course at the Royal College of Music studying under the guidance of Angus Morrison and then with Ruth Harte, whilst prursuing a career as a paino duettist, accompanist and freelance performer of chamber music.
With his duet partner, Berendina Cook, he has been broadcast and intervciewed on BBC Radio Three and also on Classic FM.
In September 1995 the Cook and Stanley Piano Duet were selected by the British Piano Duo Association to represent Britain in the 3rd International Piano Duo Coompetition to be held in Tokyo where, in January 1996 they went on to win the First Prize, the Kodama Prize and the Ongaku No Tomo sponsor's prize.
As an accompanist he has worked in master classes alongside Emanuel Hurwitz, Paul Edmund Davies, Susan Bullock (ENO) and David Barrell (WNO)
Matthew teaches at Royal Holloway, University of London where he is also the accompanist for the BMus and MMus performance courses.
